If your little ones are growing up a bit, one of the things you can do to acknowledge that change is make a few updates in their bedroom.
Two of our sons share a bedroom and now aged 7 and 10, their room and some of their bedding in particular was looking a bit tired and ‘young’. Although they still love superheroes, they are at an age where they don’t necessarily want to wear t-shirts emblazoned with their favourite characters on.
Similarly, they are not obsessed about having dinosaurs on their curtains or Lego figures on their duvets. So when Silentnight invited me to take part in their ‘Room for a little one’ campaign, it seemed like the ideal time to do a little bedding update.
Having recently swapped their metal bunkbed for a white wooden triple bunk, I chose some lovely duvet covers and cushions to go with it.
Called ‘Elevation’, the contemporary duvet and pillowcase sets are from the ‘Our House’ range at John Lewis. I was attracted to the duvet sets for two reasons – the look and their affordability. Some John Lewis bedding sets are pretty pricey, but these seemed really good value at £25 for a single (duvet cover and one pillowcase) and £35 for a double (cover and two pillowcases).
On receiving the bedding, I was impressed with the quality, too. In an easy care polycotton blend, the 180 thread count means they feel smooth and quite luxurious for the price. I’m sure they will wash and wear really well. I love the crisp, geometric design too and the smoke grey/white combo.
What’s more, they are reversible so we can swap them around any time for a change…
The cushions add a little extra comfort and a pop of yellow. Lemon and grey are a classic pairing anyway and I think the bed now looks more grown up, but still fresh and funky.
The bedding also really compliments the new wallpaper which you can see behind the bed. I’ll be telling you more about this great wooden plank effect wallpaper, and another design, in an upcoming post, so this is just a little glimpse for now!
How cute is that little hippo with his striped PJ’s and toy duck by the way? A sweet little gift from Silentnight to my boys, they got one each. Aww…..
This shared bedroom is our current makeover project, so keep an eye out for further updates. My aim is to get the bedroom resembling a Scandi-chic ski chalet! Somewhere cool and a bit quirky where the lads can relax on the bed after school with a comic or their tablets – and of course somewhere that feels restful and comfortable to sleep in.
I think the new bedding makes such a difference and is a great way to add an instant update!
Thanks to Silentnight for the opportunity to collaborate. All words and opinions my own.
