In my first blog post of the new year, I mentioned that I intend to spend a little more of my ‘online time’ over on Instagram in 2018. This is because I’ve found so much home inspiration there in recent months – it really seems to have exploded and I’m excited by all the cool and stylish interior design ideas on offer.
In our fast paced lives, not everyone has the time to sit and read blogs, so I guess that’s why Instagram’s popularity is increasing all the time. You can have a quick scroll at breakfast, break or evening and get an immediate hit of inspiration.
Many of the people I follow on Instagram don’t have an actual blog, so its the only place I’m able to see their fab interiors anyway. More often than not they have ‘normal’ day jobs and home styling isn’t a career, but a passion and creative outlet in their spare time.
There’s a sense of community, too – it is a sociable space where people want to connect. Plenty who post images of their homes and comment on others don’t have real life friends who ‘get’ their love of interiors, so on Insta they’ve found their tribe. Many online chats have turned into beautiful real life friendships and even business partnerships have been forged between people who otherwise wouldn’t have ‘met’.
There are far too many accounts to mention, so just take a look at who I’m following if you need a steer – you can find my #tidylife Instagram account here.
Searching for specific hashtags helps you find your thing, so if for example you love dark and moody interiors you can search #styleitdark or #styleitdarker. If you click on a few interior hashtags you can quite easily fall down a rabbit hole – careful, it’s addictive!
Hashtags are also used by Instagrammers to enable people to participate in sharing their own home decor, and there are often prizes to be won, such as cool cushions, sheepskin rugs, wall art and other popular homeware.
So I’m joining the hashtag trail by launching a brand new one of my own, #homeloversclub – so if you are a fellow home lover, do get on Insta and start using it; I’d love to see it become popular and get some fun interaction going on it.
If you tag your home-focused posts with it, I will share some of my faves and there will be lots of opportunities to win some great prizes in the coming weeks. For my first giveaway using the #homeloversclub tag, I’ve teamed up with home and gift company, Artisans and Adventurers.
With two boutiques and an online store, you can find a gorgeous collection of artisan keepsakes, stylish pet accessories, traditionally crafted jewellery, handwoven rugs and throws etc. Founders, Bee and Amy are keen that their wares have an ethical background – responsibly sourced and through collaborations with small scale artisans & crafters, who wouldn’t normally have access to the international marketplace.
So if you fancy checking out the giveaway, head over to the #tidylife Instagram account now for the entry options – the rules are simple and straightforward so its easy to join in the fun and you could win yourself one of these great sisal baskets in a choice of colour (subject to availability):
Hope to see you on Instagram soon! Thanks to Artisans & Adventurers for their support.© Copyright 2018 Antonia, All rights Reserved. Written For: #tidylife
