Cosy living room styling ideas with wilko

It’s that lovely time of year where the early mornings feel crisp, there’s still sunshine during the day, leaves are turning pretty shades of golden brown and the nights are drawing in. Can you tell that I love autumn?!

It makes me want to create a homely nest for the family to come back to. So, partnering with wilko, I recently set about making our living room a bit more appealing for this time of year, choosing items that are inexpensive yet provide all those essential cosy elements!

wilko has four gorgeous trend collections to choose from this season: Expression, Fusion, Hyper-Natural and Treasured which are all fab, so I’ve mixed and matched items from across the ranges. As you can see, I’ve gone for quite a muted, romantic colour palette.

This was our existing living room seating situation prior to the update. It was fine, but I was over the grey and yellow combo that we’ve had for a while now.

With our pale floor and retro-style sofa, it seemed perfect for a cool, Nordic overhaul in here; something that will transition nicely from autumn into winter.

First up, I swapped over my grey rug with the cream version I had in the conservatory and added our little marble table. Immediately the space looked lighter and fresher. Next it was time to add those accessories:

On the Wall

I was keen to move the hanging planter which had been up for ages and the wall print, too. It feels good to make a change to your surroundings! I really like the geometric accessories wilko has in its Expression range; the wilko hexagon mirror in gold mirror is so on trend right now and such a steal at £5 – at that price, you could even hang two or three together for more impact. This cute hexagonal wall hanger makes a nice decorative touch, too, and is in keeping with that modern geo vibe.

Dress the Sofa

No seating area is complete without lots of cushions and throws (well in my opinion anyway!) We never seem to have enough blankets at our house, the boys argue over them so it’s always good to have a spare one or two. I love the muted pink loose weave throw which is really soft and fluffy. It tones with the lush pink velour and grey Mongolian cushions perfectly.

Style a Side or Coffee Table

Again, I think it’s essential to have a side table or coffee table – or even both as somewhere to place your coffee cup, phone, TV remote etc. You can style these small surfaces with something like the artificial succulent planter or peony arrangement, both of which give instant appeal with no effort at all!  Faux flowers are a lovely way to keep blooms on display year round and again these dusky pinks complement the colour scheme – great value at £10, too. Candles and tealights are also a must-have at this time of year, I just love them.

And check out the gold and glass candle holder lantern with a slim gold frame that echoes the hexagon mirror, plus those little dusky pink and cream tealight globes which are perfect for a table, shelf or mantelpiece:

Hopefully that goes to show just how simple and budget friendly it can be to switch up a look and make a difference to your room, with homeware from wilko. They have everything you need to make your home feel cosy this autumn/winter and even if you can’t get to a store, you can shop online at wilko.com

Here’s a little video I put together of my living room update which I hope you like!

I love the new colour palette Antonia. It looks much softer and more cosy for autumn. The price point of the new Wilko stuff is really good. I’ve been looking for some faux flowers so I’ll definitely go and check out their offering. Lovely video too!

A brilliant example of how just a few changes can make a big difference. I love everything you choose and like the ‘mix and match’ approach within their key ranges. Your video is great too – well done!
