Recently you may recall I took part in the #UKHomeBlogHop which was a five day spectacular of summer sharing, with 27 home interiors bloggers opening up their homes and outdoor spaces to reveal their summer style to readers.
So today I’m doing a little follow up to talk about some of the home accessories I used to get my simple summer home look – oh and there’s a chance for you to win a few of them, too, at the end of the post in my homeware giveaways, so keep reading!
I don’t know about you, but I love a pop of orange; there’s something invigorating about citrus colours in the home and a rich shade orange just floats my boat. If you fancy introducing some of this colour into your home but aren’t totally sure, you could look for cushions or a rug to start with – maybe featuring patches of orange, rather than full on colour blocking.
Adding a Rug
Now, no hard living room floor is complete without a gorgeous rug and I am super pleased with our cream and grey Logan Rug from The Rug Seller.
If you are a fan of home interiors, you will surely have spotted the big trend for traditional handwoven tribal rugs; these are usually off-white in colour and made of wool, with a charcoal imperfect geometric pattern going across the shaggy pile. The Logan design captures the essence perfectly:
Practical and stylish, this rug definitely has the in-look, but comes at a more affordable price and is so easy to maintain; I can say this with confidence as we have had the grey version in our front room for several months now and it is honestly the easiest thing to take care of – it’s the only rug we’ve ever owned that still looks as good as when we first put it down. It vacuums beautifully and is more stain resistant, so I’m a synthetic rug convert!
It’s nice to try and bring an eclectic touch to your living room and the way to do that is by adding accessories that have a little bit of quirky character. Which is why I love the handmade wooden tray with stencilling from The Basket Company – it’s somewhere you can place decorative items, scented candles, maybe a glass cloche with some plants inside. I think it would also look fab in the kitchen to hold your tea and coffee making accessories.
A summer styled room demands lots of plants – so the natural willow plant holders and stands are ideal for displaying your greenery in a more layered and stylish way. Keeping with the relaxed, natural vibe, I love the wicker magazine rack which is roomy and sturdy enough to neatly store all those home magazines I like to devour!
Now here’s your chance to win some of these great items…
The Rug Seller is offering one of their gorgeous 120x170cm Logan rugs in cream with a grey diamond pattern:
The Basket Company has set aside a magazine rack, vintage tray and 2 plant holders and stands for one lucky winner:
