A Peek at the Ideal Home Show (18th March – 3rd April 2016)
I spent a great afternoon at the Ideal Home Show on Monday this week. The show is back in its original home of Olympia for the second year running, having being located for many years Earls Court. An impressive venue, the large domed glass and metal ceiling makes a striking backdrop to the many stands, show houses and room sets. There is a lot to see; I was there for a few hours and still didn’t manage to get around everything! I visited our friends at the Stressless stand and was very glad to put my feet up there, trying out their super comfy leather recliners. This sofa and chair group is the high and low backed Arion in the new colour, Henna:It was nice to see all the different, luxurious leathers and colours that are available. Stressless have introduced a new signature base option to their recliners recently; it’s sleek looking and gives an incredibly floaty feel when you relax back – I wanted to take this one home!Nearby, Good Homes magazine had created a series of dreamy room sets, which was a bit like walking through the pages of a home interiors magazine. I particularly loved the ‘Botanical Trend’ room; this is such a hot look in home interiors right now:Meanwhile there were gold fixtures and marble touches in the bathroom…And some pops of yellow in the dining room which gave a fresh, spring-like feel to the design:You can walk around the impressive show houses, this is the ‘Traditionally British Home’ which is beautifully styled: And the modern Time Saving Home: Also ‘The Arc’ by Green Unit which is a fantastic eco house:As well as everything home interiors, you can listen to experts in the Ideal Super Theatre; there’s also food and drink, a beauty bar, show gardens and outdoor living all featured at the show, with amazing hot tubs and saunas, gazebos, summer houses and more on display. You’ll find so many favourite, trusted household names all there under one roof, from the candy coloured 50s inspired kitchen appliances of Smeg, to bespoke conservatory blinds and plantation style shutters from Thomas Sanderson. So if you are looking to kit out your home or just want to feel inspired, then a day at the show is a really enjoyable experience.
