Creating a Heavenly Outdoor Space with #AsdaOutdoors
Finally, FINALLY it seems we have some truly good weather to enjoy in the UK, hooray!
Which is great, because recently we installed a nice deck in our garden, to create a little space where we can ‘holiday at home’. The rest of the garden is taken up by a massive football net, playhouse and shed full of bikes and sports equipment. So this area is nice and grown up, just for Paul and me! Once the deck was built, it obviously needed some furniture, but we didn’t want a traditional patio set, with round table, parasol and dining chairs. We were after something a bit more relaxed, maybe a coffee table and an outdoor sofa or couple of armchairs. Something ideal for lounging and relaxing in (and sipping cocktails ideally!).
I discovered that Asda have a really extensive and impressive range of garden furniture and accessories in their outdoor living department. I didn’t realise there was so much choice when it came to garden sofas, armchairs and tables! You can achieve the look of a chic beachfront hotel at very reasonable prices – with tall bar chairs, bistro sets, club chairs, luxury loungers and more to choose from.
Asda offered me the opportunity to create a heavenly outdoor space as part of their #AsdaOutdoors campaign, and choosing some items from their Outdoor Living department I felt spoilt for choice. But in the end the set that seemed perfect for us was the very practical yet stylish George Home Borneo Cube Bistro Set.
Featuring a clever modular design, for £249 you get 2 chairs with 2 matching ottoman stools for extra seating, that can be neatly stowed under the chairs or pulled out to rest your feet on. There are six waterproof linen-look seat pads and a bistro table with clear, 5mm toughened glass. Made from rust proof aluminium, the set is finished with a 2 tone brown woven rattan which looks natural, but is in fact a poly material making it weather resistant.
We have been enjoying breakfast outdoors on this set, mid-morning coffee and evening drinks, it’s lovely. I wondered how comfortable the seats were going to be, but they really are, with their cushioned pads and arm rests. You can pop your legs up and catch some rays and they’re also nice seats for reading in.
The brilliant part is that everything stows away so neatly when not in use. The seat backs fold down, you can pop the cushions on top, slide the foot stools under the chairs and push everything under the table.
How brilliantly designed is that? I think the set is well worth the money for the 5 pieces you get. Plus its all pre-assembled, and after putting the deck together over a full day, Paul was very relieved about that! We went for the light brown weave and charcoal grey cushions, but you can also get this set in dark brown and linen, or grey and charcoal.
And to extend those evening drinks until after dark, the final finishing touch to our deck, also from Asda, is the La Hacienda Freestanding Adjustable Patio Heater at £65. Slim and compact, it’s an efficient electric patio heater which just plugs in and has 3 different temperature settings. The height is also adjustable, I love it!
Who needs to go on holiday when you can holiday at home?
