Finding Home Inspiration at Arighi Bianchi this Autumn
Last week I attended an enjoyable event at Arighi Bianchi, the famous furniture and interiors store in Macclesfield, Cheshire.
Even though it’s not that far from where I live – and I’ve been past countless times on the train – I’d never actually stopped and visited the store before. I really should have! On first impressions, the elegant facade is incredibly imposing – tall, with rows of beautiful ornate windows which you can glimpse here:
The former silk mill is a huge and quite rambling Grade II listed store and it was renovated in the style of the iconic Crystal Palace (built for the 1851 Great Exhibition in London) on the instructions of Italian business partners, Messrs Arighi and Bianchi in the late 1800s.
With so many anonymous and sterile retail parks around these days, its refreshing to visit a place with such great charm and character. Once inside, I realised there were all sorts of interesting nooks and crannies to explore, filled with furniture and homeware – two of my favourite things!
The event was a special ‘Home Edit’ day, designed to inspire visitors with a range of interior-focused activities such as terrarium styling, flower arranging, creating mood boards; there was even a Q&A with special guest and TV homes expert, Sarah Beeny, later in the day.
I was invited along with a group of other bloggers and interior designers. We were made so welcome, shown around the store by the owners, treated to a delicious meal in the cafe-bar (seriously good food, exceeding all our expectations) and we took part in a little blogger Q&A.
It was a great opportunity to network, view some covetable home collections and find out a bit about the heritage of a store dating back to 1854!
Interior-wise, there is an eclectic mix at Arighi Bianchi. Whether you like a classic, glamorous, reclaimed or coastal style, you’ll find it all. The more traditional collections nestle comfortably alongside contemporary designs, with sets accessorised using a mix of luxury and more quirky, on-trend decorative items.
So if you are anywhere in or around the North West and fancy a day out with a really nice meal (I highly recommend the salmon!) being inspired by stylish furniture and home accessories, then Arighi Bianchi is the destination.
