Get the Global Style with Fusion from John Lewis

I recently picked up a John Lewis catalogue in my local store, which I always enjoy browsing through and I instantly fell for the new Fusion range.  It’s a lovely blend of colours, patterns and accessories for the home with a global-inspired, ‘world traveller’ feel.  Relaxed and eclectic, it focuses on metallic accents, Ikat style patterns and pops of ochre yellow and cobalt blue.

So naturally I was pleased to be sent a selection of items from the Fusion range to review.  I received two of these Eastern-inspired gold hurricane lanterns:

Featuring a decorative cut out detail they cast a lovely flickering glow with a lighted candle inside them.  They are large and their brass finish make a bold statement and gorgeous focal feature in the room.  I was also sent a selection of these beautiful tealight holders, featuring three contrasting segments made from soapstone and one out of sheesham wood with a brass well for your tealight candle to sit in.

These geometric shaped holders can be positioned individually or grouped together different ways for a striking effect.  Hand-crafted by artisans in India, they definitely capture the ‘global traveller’ vibe.  I also received a pair of stunning embroidered cushions to complete the look and here are all the products enhancing my fireplace at home:

As the Fusion range has such an eclectic and informal feel, I think it is an easy look to adopt; even a few carefully chosen new pieces can mix and match in with your existing throws, candles, baskets and metallic home accessories – not to mention souvenirs and mementos picked up on your own travels.

To fully capture this laid back feel, choose furniture in mindi or mango wood, such as low level coffee tables, rugs and cushions on the floor.  You can layer other textiles and add pops of colour and patterns, such as Aztec or Ikat designs, to neutral backgrounds. Accessories in copper and gold work well, whether burnished or shiny and bright – and some leafy palm plants would also really complement the look.  Cobalt blue and yellow ochre are key colours to replicate this look:
