This is an area that  interests me greatly, I am always thinking about the small ways I can improve our home and if they add value too, so much the better.  So today I have a guest post on that very subject – enjoy.

It’s surprising how small upgrades can add to the market value of your home. Not only that, but it also makes your home a more pleasant place to live. You don’t have to spend a great deal of money to make improvements. Often small changes will make a bigger difference than you’d expect.

Below are some of the best ways to improve your home that don’t require a huge investment.

Renovate your bathroom

Bathrooms are an extremely important part of any home and will certainly make a big impact on its value. If you opt for an entire renovation including a new suite, then there are some fantastic shower enclosures to choose from that will create an elegant and sleek look that will greatly improve the bathroom itself and ultimately the entire family home. Mira Showers have a wide range of shower doors that are suitable for any type of bathroom.

If you cannot afford to get an entirely new bathroom suite then there are small changes you can make to improve its appeal. Repapering/retiling as well as upgrading any cabinets and fixtures in your bathroom can change the look quite drastically.

Improve lighting fixtures

Lighting is an often-overlooked feature in many people’s homes but it can help to add value more than you’d think. If the main rooms have drab lighting fixtures then this factor can have a very negative impact on the rest of the décor. Lighting fixtures don’t have to be very elaborate to be effective. There are many beautiful wooden chandeliers that can add a great deal of class to any room.

Improve curb appeal

First impressions count for a lot and this is especially true when it comes to your home. One of the best ways to add value is to improve its curb appeal. Simple changes such as getting a new front door fitted and making sure that the garden is well-tended can significantly increase your home’s value as well as making it more attractive.

Convert your garage into another room

If you have a garage that’s only used to store old paint cans and the lawnmower then this is a huge waste of valuable space. By having your garage converted into a new room, whether it’s a new bedroom, office space or even a gym, you can help to increase the value of your home. A professional garage conversion company will be able to assess the space you have to work with and get the most out of it to create the room of your dreams.

Garage are one of the biggest companies in the UK that offer garage conversions.

 Upgrade your appliances

The major appliances in your home such as the washing machine, dish washer and fridge freezer will certainly make a difference to its value. A lot of people will keep these appliances when moving into a new home so it will certainly count in your favour if you have modern appliances fitted.
