Have you been following the Olympic Games in Rio?  I’m by no means a sports fanatic, but the success of Team GB at the Games, combined with the vibrant location and festival atmosphere, has had me hooked – even watching some events into the wee small hours!

Still in full swing and with a few more days to go, I expect the Olympics closing weekend will be a fitting and exciting finale, one where we can feel rightly proud of Team GB.

You may remember me mentioning previously that furniture company, DFS is the official homeware partner to Team GB.  Working with stars including gymnast Max Whitlock, cyclist Laura Trott and swimmer Adam Peaty, DFS designed the stunning furniture range called Britannia, in honour of these summer games and for Team GB.  The gorgeous Chesterfield inspired pieces are made in the UK and were actually sent over to Rio to furnish the lounge of Team GB’s British House, for the athletes and their families to enjoy during their stay, providing a welcoming ‘home from home’.

Fancy a tour of British House?

Isn’t it incredible?  The lounge looks fantastic and a wonderful place to chill and watch the latest Olympic action on screen.

I’m proud to have one of the limited edition Britannia chairs in my home, which I was lucky to receive after attending a factory tour and watching the pieces being handmade (and I even helped to hand finish my own chair).

If you weren’t aware, as well as being partners behind the Britannia range, Team GB have also paired up with DFS to produce a daily video series that aims to show the real people behind our Olympic stars.

The short films called, ‘Great Brits: Game On’ are hosted by British presenters, Reggie Yates and Justin Moorhouse and give an exclusive peek straight from the heart of Team GB House.  If you haven’t tuned in yet to this daily show, don’t worry – you can still catch it on the DFS YouTube Channel and see a range of famous faces taking part in entertaining challenges such as toy archery, slip n’ slides and water balloon catch!  It definitely captures the sense of fun and camaraderie that goes on behind the scenes.

And if you feel like joining in the fun yourself, why not have a go at ‘Flip It’ which is a coaster game you can participate in and submit images or videos of yourself and friends playing it!

For all the latest about DFS and Team GB, make sure you’re following along on twitter and Instagram.  If you love the Britannia range, don’t forget it’s only in stores for a limited time.
