Visiting The Snowman and The Snowdog Christmas Grotto, Trafford Centre
If you live within reach of the Trafford Centre, Manchester you may like to know that you can take your little ones down to the lovely Barton Square for an enchanted visit to their festive Christmas grotto. Not only will they meet Father Christmas, but on entering the grotto, guided by one of Santa’s helpers, families get to sit and watch some specially made scenes from The Snowman and The Snowdog, who are this year’s festive theme at the Trafford Centre.
My boys enjoyed the video that was interspersed with narrative from the mum of Billy (the little boy who builds the Snowman and the Snowdog). Here they are meeting her, she was very friendly.
Then we walked through a magical scene full of cute and cuddly moving snowmen and women.
There was an area to sit and write a Christmas wishlist and there was also a shiny red postbox to post it to Santa.
Then it is time to enjoy a personal few minutes with Father Christmas himself (who may also have a little present for you). You can purchase a photo souvenir of your visit and all in all it is a fun and festive experience for youngsters.
Advance booking is available for the Grotto and of course there are lots of other things to enjoy in Barton square at this time of year, such as the Victorian style carousel which we had a lovely ride on, plus stalls selling sweets, beer, soft drinks, hot drinks and some really delicious bratwurst hotdogs.
We also popped into the ice cream parlour and cafe, Cadwaladers, for some ice cream sundaes while we were there… well, it would be rude not to!
Here’s a bit more information about times and prices for visiting the grotto:
Thanks to intu Trafford Centre for giving us a warm welcome, free entry and some goodie bags when we visited the grotto.
