6 Tips for Embracing The Quiet Luxury Decor Trend

Image

Quiet luxury, a timeless trend that has been quietly making its mark, is now gaining more popularity for its understated, refined elegance and thoughtful impact.

The quiet luxury trend isn’t about screaming, “Look at me!” It’s not about showing off. Instead, it’s about weaving subtle sophistication throughout all of your choices and layering the elements until they give off that effortless, low-key, high-end vibe.

But why is quiet luxury so big in 2025?

At its heart, quiet luxury or stealth wealth, as it’s also known, isn’t ostentatious. It’s about the quality of the pieces you choose, from the craftsmanship to premium materials that tell a story of curated serenity and welcoming vibes that are the complete opposite of ostentatious.

So, whether you live in a top-floor apartment in the city centre or a country cottage tucked away on the outskirts of suburbia, here are some tips for embracing the quiet luxury trend in your home.

Choose Quality over Quantity

At the heart of quiet luxury is the craftsmanship of the items you choose to include in your home. It’s the quality of the finishes and materials used for each piece.

It’s choosing real wood furniture, natural stone countertops, and upholstery that’s made to last, not just a wallet pleaser.

And rather than filling up every surface, you need to be mindful of what you’re adding to your home and why. It needs to have purpose and blend seamlessly into the style you’re creating. This doesnt mean it all needs to match perfectly, but it needs to tell a story. Think vintage sideboards that have years of history etched into every carved detail, a well-upholstered armchair that has seated or can seat many bodies in its lifetime. You get the gist.

Let Your Palette Whisper

Colour is at the heart of quiet luxury, and you don’t want colours screaming, “Look at me.” You want them whispering to reinforce the look and feel throughout everything you do.

Think warm neutral, soft greys, pale taupes, and creamy whites. Then you want to add layers to create depth; muted olives, stormy blues, and chalky navies are ideal for reinforcing the quiet luxury vibe throughout your home.

Don’t target or overspray the paint’s finish, either. Matte walls and limewash finishes are called for here, as these will help build luxury into every stroke.

Clean Lines and Hidden Hardware

Visual simplicity is key in quiet luxury. Embracing the ‘less is more’ vibe is vital. Handless kitchen cupboards, integrated appliances, and low-profile lighting are all part of the luxury trend. Clean architectural lines help the space to breathe, giving a more relaxed feel and removing any starkness from the room.

Remember, just because you’re hiding things and opting for fewer lines doesn’t mean you need to embrace a characterless home—far from it. This is where texture comes in again. How? Think smooth plaster walls with linen drapes or brushed brass taps against your stone white sink.

Make Doors And Windows Design Features

Rather than simply thinking of your doors as a way to separate rooms or define your home, think of them as integral design features. How will the door impact the look and feel of a room? Are you worried doors will block natural light to make a space feel more closed off? Don’t quite like the open plan living space, but still don’t want to feel boxed in? Your doors can be a significant design aspect and really elevate your decor.

Steel frame doors, for example, offer a sleek and understated element to a room; they deliver clean lines, architectural balance, and modern elegance without feeling too imposing or, well, brash.

The glass panels can allow light to flood a room, while the slim profile of the frame can add trueness to a room and provide a definition of your home that still provides zoning but doesn’t interrupt the flow.

You can then reinforce this style throughout your home by integrating effortless steel windows. With ultra-thin framing and increased aesthetic appeal, adding steel windows to your home to complement steel doors can take your quiet luxury from impactful to outstanding.

Comfort Driven Styling

Comfort-driven styling, the art of making a home feel good to live in, is a key element of the quiet luxury trend. It’s about blending comfort into everything you add, creating an inviting and relaxing space.

Plush rugs underfoot, thick curtains, soft throws, and buttery leather invite you to build on the luxury vibe in your decor style of choice.

But remember, less is more. So you don’t want piles of scatter cushions instead, maybe a carefully placed throw over the back of a sofa? A rug laid out where it’s needed by a sofa, so you don’t step on cold flooring, etc.

But it’s not just your items that add comfort to it; it’s your lighting too. Think soft layered lighting that illuminates a room at different levels. Soft, warm, bulk glowing form wall lights, floor lamps, and desk lamps. Dimmable lighting is also a great option to consider here, as is natural lighting and how it impacts your interior lighting and style choices, too.

Edit and Curate

Think minimalism with warmth. You need to curate your home, just as you would your wardrobe. Display only what you love and remove anything that doesn’t serve that purpose or overpowers the room. While statement pieces are good, the cluttered look isn’t.

You want a single reed diffuser over copious amounts of candles. You want a single piece of artwork on a wall over loads of different frames or mass-produced pieces. Less is more, and it can do more for your aesthetics, too. It’s not about starkness, it’s about clarity and home that creates a calm, elegant ambience, not chaos and overconsumption.

Quiet luxury is a trend that can be done with ease and even on a budget; it’s not about how much you spend, it’s about how you style your home and the impact of each carefully considered price you add.
