How to Slow Down and Soak Up Life a Little More

Photo by Dan Smedley on Unsplash

Try as we might, life can get super busy. Even when you know that you want to enjoy a peaceful, slower pace of life, it doesn’t always happen. Things come up, things go wrong, and sometimes, you can just find yourself in a bit of a chaotic spiral. Even when it’s just temporarily, when you’re in moments like this, they can be such a strong reminder of what you really want. If you’re someone who really values your health, happiness, and peace, you need to do what you can to protect that. But how are you meant to make that happen when you have responsibilities to uphold?

In this blog post, we’re going to take a look at some of the best ways you can aim to slow down a bit more in life. If you know you want to soak up every moment, read on to find out how.

Be Present

The number one thing for you to do here is be more present. It’s so natural to be in your head all of the time, thinking, overthinking, and worrying. But that only ever causes stress and takes away from reality. Looking to get out of your head and bring yourself into the present moment can help.

Create a Routine

It’s also useful to establish a routine. Even if you have one already, you may need to make some tweaks to ensure it’s more supportive. Creating a morning and evening routine that supports you can make a huge difference here. It might be going for a walk and journaling, taking thc gummies and practicing yoga, running a bath and meditation–whatever works for you. But establishing a routine can help you to slow down and feel more grounded.

Stop the ‘Shoulds’

We often feel the pressure to do the things we think we should. But the word should can cause pressure, stress, and overwhelm. But when you let go of the idea of ‘should’ or any expectation and just enjoy life, things completely change.

Take More Time for Yourself

You’ll also benefit from taking more time for yourself. Alone time can be really good for your mental health. It gives you a chance to fully slow down, relax, and unwind. Looking to book in evenings, days, or entire weekends to yourself can make a huge difference. That way, you can please yourself, soak up life, and really feel rested and recharged.

Go at Your Own Pace

Ultimately, you should always look to go at your own pace in life. It’s so easy to compare yourself and feel like you’re behind or even feel the need to be the one who goes first or sets the trend. Sometimes, you even want to buck the trend and be more unique, just to differentiate yourself. But life isn’t a race, and there is no competition unless you create one in your mind. Stay off social media, consume less, avoid the need to keep up, and just do life on your own terms. This is going to help you to not only soak up the little joys in life, but actually make sure that you’re creating a life that you truly love. And that’s the only thing that matters!
