When I was offered a place on a five week course with Juliettes Interiors to see what their Interior Design course was all about, I was totally thrilled. As a home interior blogger, I was hugely excited and appreciative of the opportunity.
I love home styling and anything interiors related, but as an enthusiast rather than a professional, I have no formal training and knew this course would give me some valuable insight that I could use going forwards.
Whether I decided to pursue interior design as a potential career path or just use my newly acquired skills in my own home, I would also have the confidence to offer advice to others when asked.
And who better to teach me than Juliettes Interiors, a design studio and showroom specialising in beautiful luxury and aspirational home design. The course would take place over Zoom twice weekly for 5 weeks in two-hour long sessions. There was homework to do in between, but it was all fun and interesting.
I learnt so much! I was on the course with several other home design lovers and they were a great bunch of people. Our tutor Rozan was superb, incrediby experienced and knowledgeable. With a relaxed, friendly and helpful manner, she took time to explain things fully and clearly and she really helped us with our questions and design dilemmas.
We all had a room in mind that we wished to design and the course equipped us with everything we needed to be able to plan, draw and complete the project. Prior to the course we received a drawing board and lots of supplies including pens, pencils, rulers, crafting knife etc.
Then over the following weeks we were taught how to accurately draw scaled plans of our rooms, room elevations as well as creating mood boards and sample boards. The course also covered things such as space planning, colour theory, project management and budgeting.
As well as these enjoyable and informative live sessions, we had access to the course online and could go through the notes and rewatch the sessions, since they were all recorded. As a student we will keep access to this for 6 months which is so handy.
