Wouldn’t it be lovely if you could visit a soothing spa every evening after a stressful day at work? Imagine spending time in a beautifully decorated tranquil room that has twinkling candles and gentle music. You’d step out of a hot bubble bath and into a fluffy robe and luxurious sheepskin slippers, then grab a soft towel from a freshly laundered pile – bliss.
Sadly not everybody can afford this level of luxury on a daily basis. But, it doesn’t need to be a dream! With the right amount of planning and preparation, you can turn your bathroom into your very own luxury spa. Here’s how:
Shop for soft and sumptuous towels
First on your shopping list: fine quality bath towels made bamboo/cotton fabric (known for its indulgent texture and super absorbency). Bonus: do some good by donating your decade old towels to the nearest RSPCA animal shelter.
Invest in a heated towel rail
There’s nothing nicer than a toasty warm towel after soaking in the bath.
Shop for luxury skincare products
Stock your home spa with luxury, organic products that are handmade and ethically sourced. We recommend looking for 100% natural, plant-based products that are cruelty free. Our favourite ranges are Organic Surge, Green People and Nourish.
Contemplate a new colour scheme
Redecorating your bathroom? Consider mixing earthy tones with modern neutrals. For that spa-like ambience, stick with natural materials (wood, linen, cotton, etc) where possible.
Sort out some soothing sounds
If you have the budget, considering asking an electrician to install a sound system in your bathroom, so you can play tranquil tunes to help you relax.
However, we recommend buying a splash-proof BlueTooth speaker and connecting it to your device. (You can find them for as little as £10 online). Simply load up your favourite spa playlist and hit play!
Invest in a bath caddy
No spa bathroom is complete without a bath caddy. Add a pile of magazines, a glass of wine and your favourite candle and you’re ready to roll!
Go green
Add a little greenery to your bathroom with a few lush plants. There are a handful of plants that love humidity so they’ll thrive in the bathroom. Check out this guide on The Joy of Plants’ website for advice.
Tidy with a tray
A large white tray on a sideboard will allow you to corral bottles together, keep clutter to a minimum and look visually appealing.
Clear the clutter
When you visit a day spa, you won’t see a bin full of empty bottles, stray toilet rolls down the side of the loo, toothbrushes on the sink and kids’ toys taking over the space! Give your bathroom the illusion of serenity by banishing the clutter! Short on space? Build a storage unit underneath your sink basin.
Install a massaging shower head
While it’s impractical to hire a masseuse to visit your house every evening, a special massage shower head might do the trick instead. Perfect if you’re regularly coming home from work feeling tense.
Add the perfect finishing touches
Dried rose petals, candles and oil diffusers will all add ambience to your spa bathroom.
