When shopping for a new mattress, the options are endless. One can quickly become overwhelmed with the process, not knowing which firmness or material is ideally suited to their preferences. Memory foam is a great option when it comes to mattresses, and the product has several benefits, as described below.
What’s the deal with memory foam
As technology advances, every aspect of day-to-day living changes and improves, including how we sleep. Memory foam has been around since the 1960’s, commonly used in a wide range of products such as mattresses, pillows, chairs and footwear. Originally the cost of memory foam products was quite high, but advances in the product have lowered the costs, and made it possible for the average consumer to use and benefit from. Amongst the many features of memory foam, its high-density foam composition is both incredibly soft and energy absorbent, making it an ideal sleep surface.
There are many reasons to consider a Sealy memory foam mattress, and the benefits of such a product could in fact improve your sleep significantly.
Pain Relief and Comfort
Let’s face it, when buying a mattress the main concern is comfort. Memory foam is fantastic in terms of comfort, providing health benefits by relieving pain and discomfort. Memory foam can significantly reduce the soreness and body ache that many people suffer from as a result of a poor mattress choice, and can even help speed up the recovery time after an injury. This is the result of the material being able to displace pressure from points of pain on the body, as areas in pain have a slightly higher temperature than the rest of the body. This is detected by the memory foam, and moulds to the body accordingly, adding or reducing pressure as needed.
Allergen-Free
After a few years a typical mattress will have as many as 10 million dust mites inside, which is a disaster for anyone suffering with allergies, and less than healthy for anyone who doesn’t. Memory foam is more allergy-friendly, as it is composed of polyurethane foam that consists of fibres that are effective at preventing the build-up of dust mites. Because of memory foam’s dense composition, the accumulation of allergens from accumulating over time is prevented, making it a cleaner, healthier alternative.
The Perfect Fit
A major benefit to purchasing a memory foam mattress is the perfect fit it provides, no matter what your shape, size, or sleep preferences. Mattresses constructed from memory foam perfectly mould to the body, in response to heat and pressure. This allows the mattress surface to contour to the body and distribute weight evenly; returning to its original shape after the pressure has been removed.
Perfect For Sharing
Couples often struggle to find a perfect sleeping harmony when sharing a mattress. Everybody has different preferences and needs for support, and memory foam answers to this. Not only can the product provide the necessary support regardless of your needs but also is fantastic at absorbing surface movement to minimize disruptions throughout the night. Memory foam can put an end to sleepless nights because of your partner’s tossing and turning.
Temperature Control
Another fantastic feature of memory foam is its ability to adjust to your body heat and weight, as they are manufactured using temperature-sensitive materials. As your body temperature increases the stress becomes softer to ensure a good night’s sleep. In addition, memory foam has the capabilities to retain heat, keeping you warm and comfortable during the colder months.
Undoubtedly, sleep preferences vary greatly from one person to another, and there is no sure fire option when it comes to selecting a mattress that will provide the comfort and support needed for years to come. Memory foam, however, has the flexibility to offer a smart alternative to a traditional mattress. The benefits of memory foam are clear, making it a good consideration when shopping for a new bed.

Hi.
I tried a memory foam mattress topper a few years back but I just couldn’t get on with it. I kept overheating and felt a bit ‘swallowed up’ by it (It was quite a deep one). I really wanted to like it but maybe I am just used to uncomfortable beds! I can’t say I have tried anything other than a topper though so it is food for thought, thanks.

Hi there, ooh that doesn’t sound like a comfortable sleep experience – I think foam mattresses, and possibly toppers, have come a long way since the earlier versions. A good night’s sleep is so important, isn’t it?
