Simple Ways To Improve Your Home’s Storage

Finding storage space for all of your belongings can be increasingly difficult, and many of us find it next to impossible to create an uncluttered and organised space where we can find things we are looking for. One of the main reasons why people say they are considering moving to a new house is because they do not have the space or storage capacity they need.

However, you may be surprised at how easily you can create more storage in your home, in places you would never have thought about before. Improving your home’s storage facilities does not have to involve spending a lot of time or money but can transform how happy you are in your current home. So, here are some of our top tips and suggestions on how to improve your home’s storage.

Transform any Dead Space

If you take the time to go through every room in your house, you will be able to identify any dead space that goes unused, which could be utilised to create more storage. For example, if you have a corner of the living room that nobody uses or an alcove created by your chimney breast, then this is the perfect spot for a shelving unit or bookcase. This will then not only create additional storage for your books and smaller belongings, but it will also add another dimension to the room and make it feel more personal to you.

Create Your Own Cupboards

You may be sitting at home thinking that you simply do not have enough cupboards in your home to store all of your belongings. For example, you may not have enough cabinet space in your kitchen to store all your pots and pans and food. However, this is easily solved by creating your own cupboards.

Building your own cupboards does not have to be as stressful or complicated as you may think, and by using companies such as CNC creations, it is a whole lot easier. CNC creations can produce and deliver to you all the materials you need, cut to shape, cut to size and pre-drilled to accept the hinges etc. You can also pick the colour and finish you require. Building your own cupboards and creating additional space has never been easier.

Use Space Under the Bed

While many modern beds are now available with drawer storage, even your old bed may offer you additional storage space. For example, you should make use of any space between the bed and the floor that is available, as this is a great place to neatly put things away. The size of the space available will determine what you can store there, but don’t be afraid to think outside of the box.

For example, if there is only a narrow space available under the bed, then you could vacuum pack all of your spare clothes so that they can easily fit in the space. This will then also save you room in your wardrobe, but still make your clothes available to access.

Create Outdoor Storage Too

If you have any outdoor space, then you should be sure to create extra storage there as well. While some people are worried about storing their belongings outside, there are some items that will be fine in a dry and secure space. For example, you could get a shed or small portable garage set up, which is locked and secure to store your bike or any gym equipment you own. This means that they are not clogging up your home and making it look disorganised and untidy.

Install Shelves

Shelves are a great addition to any living space and look great in any room in the house. Shelves have become a much more versatile addition to interior design in recent years, and you can even now get shelves that match and reflect your chosen décor.

Shelves are no longer simply just for books, but they can also be great for accessories that will make your house more homely. Shelves are also a great storage option in the bathroom and kitchen. For example, in the bathroom, you can store all your toiletries, and if you are concerned about it looking untidy then you can introduce on-trend storage baskets as well.

Get a Headboard with Storage

People are a lot more concerned about having enough storage space than ever before, so many companies have considered this when creating their own designs. For example, you can now get a headboard for your bed that includes additional storage. This is a great storage opportunity and makes a great home for your magazines, books, special belongings, or even spare light bulbs!

Even if you think that you have made the most of all the storage space available in your house, these tips and tricks will help you to create an organised and stylish home without moving.
