3 Tips for Keeping Your Family Camping Trip Neat and Tidy

When you think of a family holiday, what immediately comes to mind? Is it freedom? Do you think about the lack of responsibilities that you might have for the time being? Maybe you think about the fact that you get to do what’s out of the norm. Maybe this even means no chores! Depending on your vacation, there could be some truth to it. For example, if you’re on a cruise ship or staying at a hotel, the staff will clean up for you and wash your laundry, and you usually don’t have to cook or do any grocery shopping either.

Of course, not all vacations are equal because if you’re staying at a holiday home or even family camping, you will have to clean up after yourself and your family and maybe even cook if these amenities aren’t included. Speaking of family camping, with the space being so confined and cluttered even, how can you make it comfortable? Better yet, how can you make this nice and tidy for your family during the duration of your holiday? Well, it’s definitely possible, and here’s how!

Pack Strategically

Before you and your family hit the road, you will absolutely need to take some time to plan and pack strategically for your camping trip. Basically, what you’re going to want to do is to just invest in storage bins, crates, or duffel bags to organise and contain your gear, food, and supplies. It doesn’t matter if you’re using a tent, a camper van, one of those fancy RVs, or even those small camping cabins; you need to pretty much pack the essentials that your family needs during day-to-day life (and then beyond that, too).

So, when it comes to these much-needed essential items, it could be cooking utensils, first aid kits, and toiletries. But you’ll probably also need to think about the daily and weekly chores that will need to be done, like laundry. Does the campsite offer laundry facilities? If not, then you’ll need to get the right gear for washing laundry, like a mini washer and Balcondry for hanging up laundry.

Seriously, the last thing you’re going to want to do is entirely forget or not even think about what’s needed. It can be quite the long thought process, but if you want to stay tidy and not have this camping trip go haywire, then you’ll basically have to consider all the nitty-gritty details.

Consider a Minimalistic Approach

Not to go back on what was being said above, but it can help to not pack things that won’t be needed or might not be in demand at all. When it comes to camping, less is often more. So that’s why it’s best to just embrace the principles of minimalism by packing only the essentials and avoiding unnecessary items that will take up valuable space in your campsite. Take clothes for example, your family might not need an outfit for every single day during the camping trip.

Clean as You Go

All the weight shouldn’t be on your shoulders; this is meant to be your holiday, too! So try to get everyone in the family to clean up as they go along. This should go for after meals, activities, and outdoor adventures if you want to try to make it as easy as possible when you could opt for compostable cutlery and plates to help with cleanup (since these literally go straight to the trash after use).
