The changing seasons provide a great opportunity to refresh the home, so if you fancy making your home feel more welcoming and spring-like this month, read on for our easy spring updates:
Move the Furniture
Changing the layout of your living room is a great way to bring in a fresh feel and some new energy. Whether you just re-position your seating or completely swap over two different rooms, its a great way to start off the spring season – and also a chance to get into all the nooks and crannies for a good old spring clean.
Add Fresh or Faux Flowers
Whether you pop to the shops for a bunch of fresh or faux tulips, or handpick some daffodils or blossoms from the garden, nothing celebrates spring like a container of cheerful, pretty blooms. You don’t need a fancy vase – a pitcher or jug is probably the most simple and effective way to display your spring flowers.

Swap Your Soft Furnishings
Changing your curtains and cushions for spring is a sure fire way to lighten and brighten your home. Swap your heavier winter furnishings for lighter fabrics such as cotton and linen in fresh colours to revitalise seating and window areas. These charming, spring-fresh cushions are from Esprit Home:

Bring in New Bedding
Ahh, fresh bed sheets – there’s nothing like it. Swapping thermal bedding and furry throws for crisp white sheets and cotton waffle blankets is a nice way to say goodbye to winter. There are some beautiful patterned bedding sets around if you fancy a change from plain white – opt for fresh florals or maybe a bold tropical print to really ring the changes?
Style your surfaces
Spring is a great time to re-style your shelves, sideboard of mantelpiece. Why not add some pastel candles and a few springlike accessories, such as trailing plants. You can find cute little glass vases, cloches, terrariums and other decorative objects for spring on the high street and online. It doesn’t have to cost a lot to switch up your home decor for a fresh feel.
Introduce a Rug

Adding a brand new rug to a room needn’t be an expensive purchase and is a great way to invigorate a space – choose a juicy citrus colour for added springtime zing such as this one from The Rugseller.
Did you know that you can even paint an existing rug if you happen to have a jute or similar natural rug – mark off a border or a design e.g. chevron pattern with frogtape and get painting – it’s a great way to while away an afternoon on something crafty and you’ll have a unique feature for the home at the end!
Add Room Fragrance
There are some heavenly room scents around that can introduce the smell of spring to your home – whether you prefer woody, verdant fragrances or the aroma of freshly washed linen, you can find them in all the latest candles and diffusers. Or try some modern wax melts and seasonal candles, such as those from Bolsius.
Freshen Up Artwork
Introducing a piece of artwork on the wall can provide a new focal point. If you like the wall art you already have, perhaps you could just paint the frames in blues, greens or yellows to freshen things up? Or how about framing some funky jungle wallpaper to create quick, inexpensive art – you can display them in pairs or a trio for more impact.
Try a New Paint colour
Painting the front door in a bold or pastel shade, changing the living room wall colour or even just introducing a feature wall colour can really change the feel of your home and make it extra welcoming. A pot of paint and an afternoon is all it takes to give your abode a sense of the new!
How about this lovely ‘Stillness’ palette from Crown paints, developed to “induce a relaxed mood, featuring soothing shades of yellow fading into architectural greys, with the subtlety of water colours.”

So come on, no excuses – let’s celebrate spring by trying some of these simple and effective ways to welcome the season in!

I really like the design of your carpet, at first glance looks like green grass, very charming !! I have never heard of the idea of painting a carpet. What paint is used? How quickly can this be done?
thank you
I haven’t actually tried it myself, but all the info is in the article I linked to 🙂
Thank you for the tips! Planning to change the rug! Love that green look! Looks so fresh!
