Choosing Housewarming Gifts They’ll Love!

You understand the importance of creating a home that you love, so when a friend or loved one moves into a new property, you feel their pain! Turning it into a cosy, welcoming pad is a long journey that requires plenty of time, money, and effort.

Like any good friend, you want to congratulate them on the move make the process as smooth as possible, which is why you’re agonising over a housewarming gift. However, you can’t seem to decide what type of present will be the most suitable.

If you’re struggling, here are four pointers that will put you on the right path.

Link It To The House

You may not have visited yet, but you’ve heard a lot about the property. The key is to take the information and link it to a present that you believe will hit the nail on the head. For example, industrial and minimal homes need simple, clean items that won’t appear cluttered and untidy. However, a rustic and charming interior is perfect for vintage home accessories and gifts as the retro vibe will bring out the old-fashioned elements. Delve deep into your memory banks and try and remember the features they described in detail to link the present to the property.

Or Their Personality

The owner may want to imbue their home with their personality, which is ideal because you know them better than the house! All you need to do is figure out what they like and link their likes to a housewarming present. But, be careful as lots of people will do the same, and you could end up buying something they already own. You may want to think outside of the box so that your gift is original and unique. For instance, if they love wine, you could buy them wooden crates rather than a bottle of their favourite vino.

Make It Practical

Practicality often loses out to novelty. Once you see something with the novelty factor, the fun element makes it hard to look past. Of course, the novelty wears thin after a while, making the gift unsuitable. Although a vacuum is nowhere near as sexy as a piece of artwork, the recipients will get more use from it. Plus, hoovers aren’t cheap, so you’ll help them save money at an expensive time. Come on; that’s pretty practical! Other functional presents include kitchenware, such as utensils and pots and pans, or a paid Netflix subscription.

Let Them Pick

Yes, it’s not in the spirit of gift-giving, and it feels as if you’re cheating, but it’s the best way to avoid awkward scenarios. The last thing you want is to choose something they hate or won’t use as it’ll be a waste of a gift. By putting money in a card, at least the cash will be spent on something they enjoy, which is the main thing. To pimp it up a bit, you can buy a gift card or voucher and wrap it in paper.

How do you pick the housewarming presents they’ll love? What’s your secret?
