DIY Essentials You Need For All Your Household Projects

Have you found some time to do certain household projects you’ve been wanting to complete for years? You’re not the only one. It turns out that British sales of DIY and homeware products have soared over the past four months, as the nation continues to invest time and money in home updates.

If you have plenty of projects to do around the home and are wondering what tools you’ll need for the job, you’re in the right place. Here we’ll go through the DIY essentials you need to successfully complete the tasks at hand.

Basic tools

Every home needs a toolbox filled with basic DIY equipment that can be used for a wide range of jobs. Some of the basic tools you need include screwdrivers with a range of heads, pliers for removing staples or nails, a hammer for putting up pictures or shelves, plus nails and screws for assembling furniture. If you have the budget, it’s also worth investing in a cordless drill, as this will prove useful for a range of DIY projects. And don’t forget a tape measure which is essential if you’re buying new furniture!

Safety kit

As well as your basic tools, you’ll need to get high-quality PPE that’ll help you do your jobs safely. Firstly, you should invest in some safety goggles that will protect your eyes from dust, debris and falling objects. You should also get a pair of durable safety gloves that will protect your fingers from cuts and scrapes. Depending on the task you’re doing, you may also want to buy a mask to stop you inhaling dust and anything else that gets into the air.

Essential extras

There are also some essential extras to consider before getting stuck into your household projects. For instance, if you’re giving your space a new lease of life by redecorating, it’s worth getting some good quality painters tape. This will help you to achieve a flawless finish by creating perfectly straight lines along walls, ceilings and skirting boards, which is particularly important if you’re creating a feature wall in a darker shade! You could also get a range of dust sheets to protect your furniture and carpets while you’re busy at work.

Whether you’re giving your walls a splash of paint, upcycling outdated furniture or giving your kitchen a mini makeover, it’s important to invest in the right tools. That way, you can get the project done easily, safely and to a great standard!
