How To Make Your Home Feel Like A Luxurious Hotel

Image

Do you ever walk into a hotel and imagine your home being like it? Does the hotel have a certain smell that you wish you could replicate as you walk through your door, or are the interiors simply stunning, and you wish yours were the same? You are not alone, so many people say this when visiting five-star hotels.

There’s something about the aura a premium hotel brings. The lamp shades they use, the chairs they pick, and how they light the room as you walk through it all feels carefully curated to create a sense of calm and indulgence. And then there are the features that truly set them apart, like the infinity pool that seems to finish everything off – we know having one of these may not be possible! (Unless you are truly wealthy). But that doesn’t mean you can’t make some changes to your home to make it feel like a luxurious hotel.

Changes like adding a premium smell through reed diffusers can make a difference. So can playing with your lighting and hanging pictures (or artwork) on your walls, which exude luxury. Then there is the furniture you have in your home and the colours you choose to decorate your walls with – emerald green or champagne are two colours which are considered premium.

To help inspire you, we have put together a brief guide on five changes you can make to your home to make it feel like a luxurious hotel.

Add a luxurious smell to your home

The first thing a lot of people notice when walking into a luxurious hotel is the smell. Most five-star hotels have a unique smell, which smells incredible and instantly makes the whole building feel luxurious. This can be replicated in your home, and by adding luxurious smells, you’ll instantly feel different when walking through the door. The best way to do this is to use reed diffusers from reputable brands. Place a few throughout your home, and when walking around, you’ll instantly notice a difference in the overall smell. An alternative to a reed diffuser is to you one of the plug-in scent boosters, but these can sometimes smell artificial.

Upgrade your bedding

Something a lot of people get excited about when staying in a luxurious hotel is the bed and its bedding. There is something very calming and wonderful when you get to cosy up in bed at night. The pillows are always very soft, and the duvet cover is also very soft. You can replicate this at home very easily. Buy some premium cushions, make sure you layer your bedding and don’t be afraid to spend more on a duvet cover – often we try to find more affordable options, but these aren’t always the most comfortable or premium.

Consider what you have on your walls

Walls play a key role in the overall feel of a home. Left bare and the rooms you are in will feel empty and lifeless. Styled nicely, and they will feel welcoming and full of character and personality. Take a moment to walk around your home and review all the walls. Is there a lot of white space, which you could potentially fill? Could you put some nice artwork up to replicate luxury, or pictures to add some character? They don’t have to be expensive; replica paintings are very affordable and will make a huge difference – you could also add plants, as they are very good at adding another dynamic to a room.

Play with your lighting

Lighting can instantly sway a space from making it feel premium to unwelcoming and tired. If your lights are too bright, it doesn’t make a space feel calm. Too dim, and you can’t see what’s in front of you – there’s a fine balance. What hotels do well is layer their lighting to create different effects. A few easy changes which you can make include: using a table lamp, installing dimmers instead of having one light setting (or use smart bulbs), and considering under-cabinet lighting in your bathroom – this can make a big difference. If you do want to use smart bulbs, you will find they are cheaper to run than normal bulbs, and they are very economical, not to mention easy to install. It’s a lot of fun speaking to your smart device, like Alexa or Google Home and asking them to turn the lights on or off. It means you don’t have to get out of bed if you forget to turn them off.

Upgrade your bathroom

You will have never been to a luxurious hotel that has a bad bathroom – fact! All five-star hotels invest in their bathrooms, as this completes your room experience – it’s one of the first things guests look at after walking into a room. What this means to you is that you should be focusing on your bathroom and making upgrades to ensure it’s as luxurious as the rest of the house. Now, you may not have the budget to put a new bathroom in, but there are some changes which you can make, which will have an effect instantly. For example, you could invest in a luxurious soap and hand cream. Replacing old towels with thick, hotel-quality white ones is a must, and so is using a luxurious bath mat – bath mats can really make a difference. A nice little touch which you could buy is a bathrobe. All luxury hotels have one in the room for you to enjoy.

There are so many things you can do to make your home feel more luxurious and like a five-star hotel. Depending on your budget, start making some small changes and over the months, make bigger changes – in six months, you’ll really see the difference.

What changes do you think you are going to make to your home? Will you be using any of the tips above to improve your property? Is there something missing that you think we should be adding? Let us know in the comment box below. We look forward to hearing from you.
