Moving Out of the City: 4 Tips To Escape to the Country With Minimal Stress

The pandemic has been reshaping many aspects of our lives. Over the past months, we have learned how to turn our homes into gyms, cinemas, theatres, yoga studios, and, more importantly, home offices.

And, as more companies embrace remote working, almost 40% of professionals living and working in London can now work from the comforts of their homes. However, if you could work from anywhere, would you still choose the chaos, stress, and exorbitant prices that characterize big cities?

Many young couples and families have started to have similar thoughts and the number of Britons buying peaceful family homes in the countryside has been skyrocketing. And, if you are one of those, you are probably getting ready for the big move –  but don’t be fooled; moving to the countryside is not as easy as transporting a few belongings; there’s a lot to weigh up and compromises are inevitable. Here are a few tips to keep in mind.

Find Private Transport

If you have been living in a big city, the chances are that you have moved from a flat to another accommodation in another neighbourhood. This might be because of job-related needs or because you have found a better deal and location.

However, moving from an area to another within the same city is often not so difficult – especially if the whole urban area is well-served by public transport. After all, all you will need to do is jump on the next tube ride and move all your belongings little by little.

However, if you are moving out of the city, you might not be so lucky – make sure to have your own car to avoid depending on a sporadic bus or expensive train!

Plan In Advance

If you have moved home in the past, you know that the process can be exciting –  but also extremely stressful and overwhelming. If you haven’t, you can expect a few full weekends of working on packing, decluttering, moving, and lifting – you can find out more about moving home here!

In any case, it is impossible to ignore that planning in advance can save you from added stress and last-minute issues. And, of course, planning is especially important when you have to move more than just a few miles away!

Declutter and Get Rid of What You Don’t Need

Moving a house can be a stressful project, but it is also an opportunity like no other to declutter, get rid of what you don’t need, and focus on the belongings that still hold an important place in your life. By planning in advance, you can sell what you don’t need and make the move even lighter and stress-free.

Don’t forget to get your new home’s floor plan ready before moving, so you know exactly where your items will need to be positioned, what you need, and what you should get rid of. After all, if your new home is also your office, gym, and cinema, you might appreciate the benefits of a minimalist approach.

Ask for Help

Moving home is something that requires planning and strategy and, if you have never done it before, you might opt to find help. Start by investing in high-quality removals equipment such as the one designed by Evo Supplies and don’t be afraid to ask for help from your family, friends, or even a professional mover.

A professional moving company like Ace Removals – House Removals can be a huge help when you’re trying to dial down the stress of moving. This is especially true if you’re moving across long distances and you’re worried about how long the move will take. Professional movers can keep your items safe and sound while they move them across the country.

Even better, if you label your boxes, the movers can then put the boxes and furniture in the right rooms, allowing you to unpack and settle into your new home so much more quickly. This way, you can well and truly leave the stress of the city behind.
