The Health Benefits of Hydrotherapy in Modern Bathrooms

Hydrotherapy is a tried and tested way to improve a sense of wellness, as anyone who has tried it can confirm. Warm water can relax the muscles, ease joint pain and stimulate blood flow to offer whole-body pain relief, while its relaxing benefits have been linked to improvements in the condition of people dealing with mental health issues including depression and anxiety. In modern bathrooms, the benefits of hydrotherapy can be achieved at home in a way that used to require a visit to a spa.

How hydrotherapy can aid physical health

There are few jobs these days that don’t have the potential to build muscle tension in a person; whether sat at a computer or crouched over a drain, a long stretch of busy days can leave you feeling sore and under strain. Warm water, whether from a conventional soak or a jacuzzi bathtub, can release knots in the muscles and leave you feeling much more relaxed. It can also deliver improvements in circulation, aiding in delivering key nutrients where they need to go, and doing a lot more for detoxing than any number of expensive supplements. Also, people with arthritis report that their joints move much more freely after a soak.

Self-care has become a mantra in recent years, with a focus on expensive shopping trips and weekend breaks as a way of treating yourself. There should be some debate over the validity of spending your way out of stress every time it arises; taking the time to immerse yourself in water and letting it ease the body and mind has benefits beyond the time spent in the tub. With your arms, legs and neck feeling less tense, you’ll sleep better – and the benefits of that rest will make a huge difference. A spell of splendid isolation is also the ideal time to try out some meditation, which can pay off hugely if you’ve been feeling stressed.

Creating the ideal space for hydrotherapy in your home

We’ve said that it’s not a great idea to spend your way out of stress, and that stands true. The upfront cost of a hot tub in your bathroom is nothing like what the self-care industry would have you spend on treats even in a few months. Pick a bathtub that fits your space, and decorate your bathroom in relaxing colours like neutral blues and greens.

Some soft lighting can also dramatically enhance the experience, and it’s a good idea to incorporate a smart speaker into the renovations, which can be used to control the lights and play in some relaxing music, whether it’s a playlist designed for the purpose or just some tunes you love. Augment the experience with some essential oil diffusers or scented candles; smell has been highlighted as a key aspect of relaxation and a great ally of hydrotherapy.

There is little in the world that can beat hydrotherapy for its effects on mind, body and soul. Taking the chance to create that luxurious spa feeling in your own bathroom can be a great investment in your health.
