3 Ways To Ruin Your Home’s Kerb Appeal

What does your home’s kerb appeal say about you? How your home looks from the outside can massively impact the view both you and others have about your home, and if your home isn’t looking its best externally, it really doesn’t matter how good it looks internally because you will lose those all-important 7 seconds you have to make a good impression with a lacklustre exterior.

Whether you’re selling up and you want your home to look good, make a great first impression (homes with good kerb appeal sell faster and, in some cases, can have the value boosted due to how good they look from the roadside), or you simply want to feel good when you come home each and every day, paying attention to kerb appeal is a great place to start.

But everyone knows the main thing about kerb appeal: keeping it clean and tidy and in a good state of repair. But what else can impact kerb appeal and turn that first impression from great to meh?

Dirty Roof, Walls and Paving

Imagine the satisfaction of a clean, well-maintained exterior. Your home’s roof, paving, and walls, constantly exposed to the elements, naturally accumulate dirt over time. But by regularly cleaning and maintaining them, you enhance your curb appeal and prolong the lifespan of these surfaces. This proactive approach not only boosts your home’s appearance but also instils a sense of pride and accomplishment.

Getting a roof cleaning company to clean your roof properly can not only instantly revive the look and feel of your home but also preserve the lifespan of the rooftop. Power washing of jet washing paving and hard surfaces can do exactly the same thing on ground levels, and getting those exterior walls cleaned or painted, as the case may be, can give your building a new lease of life.

Damaged Windows and Doors

Not only are damaged windows and doors a security risk to your home, but they also don’t exactly look great, do they? Whether it is peeling paintwork around old wooden doors or window frames, or the handles are broken on your doors or garage if you have one, or you didn’t replace the pane of glass in the window that got accidentally smashed, those minor repairs you might have become blind to will impact the kerb appeal and give people second thoughts about wanting to come inside.

Bins on Display

Having your wheelie bins out front can be an instant deal breaker regarding kerb appeal. No one can make their refuse bins look good unless they’re hidden away, and these eyesores, as practical and essential as they are, can impact the aesthetics of your property and instantly knock down your home’s kerb appeal. It opens after how amazing it looks if you leave your bins at the front of the property; it’s essentially a wasted effort. So hide the bins, or if they do need to be kept out front, have them stored inside something that looks more appealing.
