Top 5 Tips for Saving Money On Home Décor

Paintbrush in clingfilmToday’s guest post is all about the ways we can save money whilst improving our homes – enjoy!

Are you in the process of updating your interior décor, and would like to save money?  When on a budget it’s important to make the most of what you have to spend.  Otherwise towards the end of the project you’ll run out of money before all aspects of the home have been given the required attention. Therefore, read on to find out 5 simple tips to save money on your home décor:

  1. Solar Lighting

To save money on your energy bills you could choose to have solar lighting installed. However, you must keep in mind that the upfront installation costs are going to be significantly higher, than having the more traditional lighting installed. But if you have the budget to do so, then the long term financial savings are worth it – and you’ll be doing your bit to save the environment too.

  1. Don’t Outsource All The Work

It can be tempting to hire the professionals to complete all the DIY work, and this is especially true if you hate DIY work. However, if there are some simple tasks that you can complete yourself such as repainting the garage, then do it yourself. You’ll save a lot of money by doing this, and you get to work on your own home, which might add some sentimental value.

  1. Voucher Codes

Online there are a number of online stores that allow the use of voucher codes. By using these codes you have the ability to save a lot of money on the different products that will go towards your interior décor project. To start you can check out VouchaCodes.co.uk for a wide range of voucher codes that you can use to cut down on your costs.

  1. Paint Kitchen Units

If you are upgrading your kitchen, then you might be thinking that replacing all the kitchen furniture is the way to go. However, you can keep the old furniture and give it a fresh look via a lick of paint. Since a paint brush and a can of paint is a lot cheaper than the kitchen furniture you’ll save a lot of money.

The advantage of painting your own kitchen units is that you have a lot of control over the design of your kitchen. Whereas, if you buy from a store, then you can only choose from the colour schemes and designs that are available at that store.

  1. Refinish Hardwood Flooring

When hardwood flooring has a lot of scratches on it, what a lot of homeowners do is simply get rid of it for new flooring. However, you can use a sanding machine to get rid of those scratches. Then apply a lick of finish to give the flooring a beautiful looking gloss. All this requires work, but will be much cheaper than having new flooring installed.

These 5 tips for saving money are just some ideas that you can implement. There are plenty more out there that you should look for in order the stretch your budget to the limit.
