Top Tips for Desk Organisation

Many of us use our desks for a range of different activities, meaning things can get messy over time. Whether your desk is for work, artistic pursuits or even just getting ready in the morning, having a clean and tidy space is key for productivity.
To ensure that you are making the most of your desk space, here are our top tips on how to keep things organised this spring:

Storage Containers

A great way to make things tidier is by investing in some storage containers for your desk. Having organised vessels such as boxes, plastic wallets or even something as simple as a pencil holder can be a huge help when managing your productivity.

Containers are great if you are dealing with important files, as not only is their protection and safety a necessity, but their accessibility will also make things much simpler for you. Children’s desks or furniture used for artistic purposes would also greatly benefit from craft storage such as bags or wallets to help keep everything in their respective places so that they are easier to find in a rush!
This is also an effective method when it comes to maximising your space, as there will be a reduced amount of stray clutter items taking up valuable room.

Declutter

To make your desk space more practical, you should consider a complete clear-out. Let’s be honest – we don’t use half of the items in there anyway, so why not just bite the bullet and get rid?

Firstly, it’s a good idea to remove everything from your desk so you can fully assess the situation. Then, carefully go through each item, and evaluate whether it is necessary to keep. If you can give away or recycle any of your unwanted objects, you should make this a priority in order to minimise wastage.

After decluttering, you will find it easier to organise the rest of your items, making this entire process simpler for you.

Labelling

For the finishing touch, labelling your storage boxes, bags and wallets will save you plenty of time when it comes to trying to find something.

Organising your bits and bobs into categories with dividers and binders is also a great way to enhance the system within your space. Arranging objects in terms of usage, colour or size is a functional as well as aesthetically pleasing tactic for tidying your desk items.

Following this guide will help to reduce the frustrating clutter in your desk, which is sure to have a positive impact on your headspace, too. Having a rejig and a spring clear-out will do wonders for your productivity – just make sure to consistently clean and tidy your desk to ensure you are maximising its potential.
