This season I’m taking part in a competition organised by Furniture Choice, who want to get people inspired for celebrating Christmas this year.
The task is to put together a decorated dining table, ready for the festivities to begin! They are offering a super prize of a dining set to the winner, so this is my theme.
I decided to make it all white and gold. I’ve played with a few Christmas table ideas recently in other blog posts, and last year it was all about silver, but this is probably the look I will be going for on Christmas Day 2014.
The snowy white tablecloth acts as a crisp backdrop and helps to reign in the gold a bit more than a dark or dramatic colour would do. I’ve left off a table runner this time to keeps the whole look fresh, clean and modern.
I picked up the gold round lacquered tray in John Lewis a few months ago, it was in the clearance section and I knew it would come in handy for Christmas! I’ve had the white and gold Christmas tree dishes for a few years now and always bring them out – they were from Next. Tealight crown and mini cushion decoration were from previous years, I’d just never thought about putting them together before! The gold glasses came from Matalan recently and I snagged the gold cutlery on Ebay from the Argos Outlet a few weeks ago.
Gold splash napkins and gold tealight houses are both recent purchases from Rose & Grey. Greenery courtesy of our garden.
As the light faded in our dining room, I lit the tealights and the houses glowed so prettily!
So, white and gold it is for us this year. I can’t wait to see how the other entrants have styled their Christmas tables – keep an eye out for an inspirational post coming soon with all the different looks on the Furniture Choice site.
