How To Update Your Home With Modern Boho Wall Decor

Collaborative partnership with Slay My Print

Is your home decor in need of a quick refresh?

If so, one of the simplest things you can do is change the wall decor! Whether you’re keen to try a new interior direction or simply want to fill a blank space, choosing a poster from Slay My Print could be the ideal way to liven up your surroundings.

I recently discovered there’s a whole range of timeless and on-trend designs to choose from. As I’m always interested in adding new little touches to our home, I was excited to try out this stunning abstract boho inspired mountains print:

Printed on to 180gsm Matte Premium Paper, I chose to add a slim and contemporary white frame, also from Slay My Print. (The frame comes with a protective clear perspex cover which I’ve omitted for the photographs just to avoid unwanted reflections).

The design captures the Modern boho trend, which is quite minimal, but with a fun and positive vibe. As you can see the print’s colour palette is earthy and neutral, which looks good paired with organic shapes and hints of nature, so you could style it on a shelf with pretty plants and pottery.

Have you seen the trend for painting arches on a wall? I think this could look really effective as a backdrop to this poster.

I’ve had fun experimenting with my print and styling its surroundings in different ways. One look is more neutral, the other has extra pops of black. Which version do you prefer?

Achieving the Modern Boho Look

Updating your room with the Modern Boho look is very simple. I love that it can be achieved quite affordably, with upcycled furniture and low cost wall art for example. Just add a few accents such as a textured rug or basket weave light shade, crisp white walls and plants on a side table to keep it simple. Also look for accessories like curvy, bobbled or ribbed vases, to which you can add some dried grasses, plus tasselled throws and cushions. Touches of wicker, marble, warm wood, and the odd vintage piece such as a rug can all work in harmony.

It’s a comfortable, calm and unfussy style with quite a light and airy feel. The colour palette is fairly neutral – white, stone, terracotta – and pops of black work well in moderation. You can include plants, wall hangings, lamps, candles and room fragrance to add the finishing touches.

How To Display A Boho Print

A boho print is such a great way to tie the look together and there are different ways you can display your poster. You can place it centrally, as I have done here where it anchors the space above my sideboard:

Just make sure the print is big enough, anything from a size A2 (which mine is) upwards. A small print can look a bit lost on an empty wall, but would be perfect as part of a gallery wall. I just love how the Boho Mountains No 1 & No 2 prints have been displayed here:

That’s the beauty of a Slay My Print poster, the designs look great individually or as part of a collection. You could combine this boho print with some typography, for example and keep to the same frames for a cohesive look. Check out these gorgeous new arrivals for some inspiration! You could also add extra wall decor, such as a tapestry wall hanging, for example or hanging plants.

Other ways you can style your print including off-setting it to one side. The print doesn’t always have to be central, just make sure there is balance created by the objects around it.

Or why not place it directly on top of a sideboard? On its own this could look a little odd, like you’ve forgotten to hang it! But when placed alongside other accessories it can look amazingly stylish. Layer with other prints and accessories, play with height, make the arrangements pleasing to the eye.

Go for larger items that create impact, rather than lots of small accessories that can get a bit lost on the surface. Add height with vases, grasses and stack decorative boxes or books to place accessories on top. Be imaginative and creative. You don’t have to shop for new things, look around the home and see what you already have to make an eclectic display to complement your beautiful boho print!
