How To Design Your Dream Bathroom

When it comes to home design, it can be easy to look at your bathroom as just a functional space – you’ll use it to wash, perhaps get dressed, and that’s about it. In other words, you’re in and out pretty quickly, so why waste time and effort making the space look good?

Well, the fact is that with a more thoughtful approach, you can actually turn your bathroom into a fantastically relaxing and enjoyable space that can still be practical, but just happens to look and feel amazing at the same time. With that in mind, let’s take a look at how you can make that happen; read on to find out more.

Have A Functional Layout

No matter what kind of look you want to give your bathroom or how you want it to feel, you’ve also got to think about the practical features, and that’s why it’s so crucial to consider the layout and make sure it’s a functional one – do that and the rest can be added later on.

A well-planned out layout is one that makes the best use of the space you have, no matter how much of it there is, and ensures you can move about the bathroom easily (which also makes it a more relaxing place to be). So you’ll need to think about where the plumbing is, where you have your ventilation, and how you use the bathroom to ensure it’s practical and is going to work for you.

Choose The Right Materials

If there’s one thing you need to remember about bathrooms it’s that they get wet – very wet. That’s why it’s vital to pick the right materials so you don’t have to deal with any issues like warping and dampness; that’s going to be expensive to fix, and it’s going to mean your bathroom doesn’t look so great in the end.

Marble wall tiles are a good choice in a bathroom because they won’t soak up water and they’re easy to clean – the only issue is if they’re not installed properly because water can get into cracks and cause problems, but doing the job professionally means that’s unlikely to be an issue. As for the floor, waterproof flooring just makes sense, doesn’t it? It’s affordable, looks great, and it’s going to solve a lot of maintenance issues for you, ensuring your bathroom stays looking great for years to come.

Strike The Balance

As we’ve said earlier, you want to have a bathroom that’s functional but also beautiful, and striking that balance is something you’ll need to think hard about when you’re designing your dream bathroom.

It’s a good idea to make a list of all the functional things you need in your bathroom, like plenty of storage or good lighting around the vanity, for example. Once you know what you need your bathroom to do, you can set about picking elements to include that do those things, but that also happens to look gorgeous at the same time. When it comes to storage, if you know how much you want, you can choose a lovely vanity unit that fits your needs. Lighting? Well, when you know where it’s going to be installed and what it has to spotlight, you can choose a fitting that will do that and that you fall in love with. Getting that balance right might take work, but it’s worth it.
