Ten Outdoor Upgrades that Add Value to Your Home

Being able to get outside and upgrade your home is a great way to add some value to it, especially if you’re looking to sell during the summer. And the spring months are the perfect time to spend outdoors and enjoy your backyard.

So you need to start working on it as early as you can so that by the time it comes around to those entertaining long summer nights, you can actually spend some time out there. Whether you’re entertaining your friends or you’re just enjoying some family time or alone time with a book, outdoor spaces have become integral to an elevated lifestyle. We’ve put together a quick list of ten of the best outdoor upgrades that you can do to enhance that lifestyle factor you’ve been looking for and add better value to your home.

  1. Upgrade your fencing. The fence around that edge of your property should be in good condition so that it can protect your property and continue to give you the privacy that you’ve been looking for. If you’ve still got wooden fencing and it’s falling apart, then an upgraded composite fencing can make a big difference. In fact, a general upgrade to all of your fence posts and even the height of your fence can change the way your home is valued because fences provide that protection and privacy that people are looking for. The right type of fence really does matter.

  2. Replace or even paint your front door. The front door of your home can make a big first impression, and you want that first impression to be a positive one. By replacing the front door and even the hardware on the door, you’ll be able to make an immediate impact and transform the front of the home. Painting the door and the door trim in contrasting and complimentary colours is a great way to update the look of your door without having to break the budget. If you can’t afford to replace the entire door or upgrade the front of the house, then a lick of paint is going to do a wonderful job as an upgrade.

  3. Replace the garage door. If you’re lucky enough to have a garage that sits at the front of your home, then you should consider whether it needs an upgrade. Garage doors can be custom made to many different styles and colours, and it can include manual and motorised versions as well. There are so many places you can get a new garage door from, but if you’re looking to overhaul the garage completely then you may even want wider doors that suit.

  4. Get your facade fixed. How long has it been since you’ve had the front of your home assessed properly to know that it’s in good condition? The fascia boards, rake boards and barge boards, the soffits, the decorative trims, and even the steps and balustrades all need to be checked over and fixed up.If you’re looking to add value, then fixing the front of your home is a great place to start.

  5. Call in professional landscapers. It’s so important that the front of your home looks good, and that doesn’t just pertain to the actual house. You can achieve excellent results quickly and effectively with landscaping. Garden maintenance is actually the easiest place to begin, and with some planning, you can incorporate retaining walls, garden edges, new fencing, new paving, and even stepping stones to make your landscaping look fantastic.

  1. Have a new deck installed? If you’ve ever sat and wondered about the merits of having a deck installed in your home, then all you need to do is search the subject online. You will find article on article mentioning the addition of a deck as the number one thing you can do to add some value. Not only are you providing an entertainment space, but you’re giving an extra boost to your. It should be an extension of your current living arrangements and it extends your usable space from indoors to outdoors. The choice of materials for your deck can cover a long list, so make sure that you’ve done your research as to which deck suits you best.

  2. Install a fire pit. The reason that fire pits are so popular is because it gains that feeling of sitting around a campfire without having to actually go anywhere. You should also make sure that if you’re going to install a fire pit, you’ve spoken to your local council for any restrictions during Bushfire seasons, you get a permanent structure or removable fire pit installed, and you think about the fuel type. You also need to have a safety plan with a fire pit because obviously when you’re dealing with fire you need to have a way to make sure that you can put it out safely too.

  3. Add an outdoor kitchen. If you have more of a budget to play with than luxury, such as an outdoor kitchen should not be understated. The addition of plumbing, gas sinks, or filtered water taps can make your outdoor space even better. Add it to one of those decks that we mentioned earlier on and you’ve got the perfect entertainment zone.

  4. Add a privacy screen. We already talked about composite fencing, but when you’re thinking about your outdoor kitchen, you may need to close off one or both sides of the deck or outdoor space so that neighbours aren’t peering over the top of the fence. Privacy screens are a great solution, and the range of materials out there can really enhance your existing home design.

  5. Install some outdoor blinds. Outdoor blinds can really help you to keep out the elements. There are plenty of different options, from vertical or horizontal nozzles to manual or electrical function models.Outdoor blinds can really help you to keep back the wind, rain, hail and heat and make your home more attractive to potential buyers.
