The Most Popular Kitchen Styles And Design Trends (That Will Still Look Good In 10 Years’ Time)

If you’re thinking about remodelling your kitchen, then you’re probably looking for some inspiration before you get started. The kitchen is without a doubt one of the most important areas of the house, since it’s the place where people come together cook delicious food and catch up with the rest of the family.

Kitchen trends come and go all the time, but there are some which remain absolutely timeless. Since doing up your kitchen can be expensive, it’s best to stick with a design that you’re not going to wind up hating a few years down the line. Here are the most popular kitchen styles and designs that will still look good in 10 years’ time:

Smart Kitchens

Smart kitchens are a thing of the future – so they’re not likely to be going away any time soon. A smart kitchen can do more than just control your lighting and heating. With a smart kitchen, you can open cupboard doors without any touch, boil your kettle so that it’s ready for you as you get home from work, and even try out some hands-free cooking.

A smart kitchen also comes with handy features, such as refrigerators alerting you when you’re running low on groceries, and devices that will tell you if any of your eggs are going bad. Not only will this type of kitchen change the way that you live your life, but it’s also bound to impress your guests.

At the moment, smart kitchens are still at the higher end of the price range, since they’re still a relatively new innovation. But over time, as more and more designers and technology businesses catch on, prices should become more accessible for everyone.

Handleless Kitchens

There’s something so effortlessly sleek and classy about a kitchen that features cupboards with no handles. Handleless cupboards are great if you’re looking to give your kitchen a modern feel, so if that’s something that you’re after, then it’s worth finding a designer who specialises in that kind of thing.

Kesseler offer luxurious designer kitchens in a whole range of different styles, including handleless. Their effortless style achieved through beautiful lines, floating worktops and low plinths lifted by sumptuous and subtle LED lighting- and with Kesseler’s lifetime warranty, you’re guaranteed to be the owner of a kitchen that will look good for more than just 10 years.

Kitchens with Islands

If you have room for an island in your kitchen, then you should definitely think about getting one. Islands are the perfect place for families and guests to gather round, since they can double up as a dining table or bar area as well as a workstation.

Islands can vary in shape and size, and needn’t take up that much space if you don’t want them to. Some people use them as a way to separate an open plan kitchen from the living area, but an island would also look great in a smaller space as well.

Farmhouse Kitchens

Farmhouse kitchens tend to look more rustic and traditional than modern day kitchens, so they’re perfect for if you live in a cottage or an older style building. The great thing about these kitchens is that there’s no denying they have character, and it’s much easier to add your own personal touch than it would be with a modern kitchen.

These kitchens usually feature exposed beams, natural wood floors, a spacious pantry area and cupboards in matte, light pastel colours like sky blue. If you’re a lover of vintage, then you could accessorise your farmhouse kitchen with a vintage styled toaster and kettle to complement the cupboards.

Modern Kitchens

Modern kitchens are the most popular style we see today, and are pretty much the polar opposite of farmhouse kitchens. A modern kitchen design is all about minimalism and strong, clean lines. The colours tend to be pretty neutral and are normally lighter, such as whites and greys – though black kitchens have recently started to become more popular.

Not only do modern kitchens look good, but they have a focus on practicality that isn’t noticeable in other styles of kitchen. Modern cupboards will usually be frameless with flat-panel doors, and the material used is likely to be glossy and much easier to clean. There will often be tiles round the walls to prevent any damage from splashes.

Modern kitchens have also introduced a new trend into the works: integrated appliances. With a modern kitchen, it’s likely that your refrigerator, freezer, washing machine, bin, and any other appliance, will be hidden away behind a door disguised as a cupboard. This gives the kitchen a neat feel, and if you’re a fan of things that match, then you’ll love having integrated appliances.
