Organising or attending a baby shower can be great fun! Cake, balloons, silly games, gifts – what’s not to love? It’s a happy occasion and a chance to get together with friends and family to celebrate with a mum-to-be, but if you need some gift inspiration, this guide may help.
Baby Clothes
Babies go through clothes quickly – they’re often in the wash or they simply outgrow them, so you can’t really go wrong choosing a gift of clothing. Cashmere garments such as cardigans, all in ones or little booties are always beautiful and special. It can be a good idea to buy baby clothes in a bigger size, for the little one to grow into. This is often appreciated by parents who may have organised clothes for the early weeks, but not yet the later months which soon come around! Luckily there are lots of gender neutral baby clothes, so if you don’t yet know the sex of the baby it doesn’t really matter. But if the mum-to-be is having or has already had a baby girl, and you want to get something special, you could check out thisĀ baby girls designer clothing from Strawberry Children.
Treat the Mum-to-Be
When the focus is on the baby, it’s nice to treat the mum-to-be who may be tired or feeling busier than ever! Treating her and her partner to a night out is a lovely idea. You could arrange a meal at a restaurant or act as babysitter for the night. Alternatively, a pamper treat is a good alternative – something like a manicure or pregnancy massage could be just what she needs.
Homemade Gift
Are you gifted at knitting or sewing? Perhaps you could crochet a baby blanket or embroider a beautiful cushion for the nursery. If you like to cook, how about the idea of gifting some home cooked meals for the first couple of weeks after the baby is born? It would be a big help and such a personal touch.
A memory box
All new mums love to save the little mementos that come along with a growing baby. A sweet little box or suitcase is a great way for a new parent to store precious memories, from those early scan photos to congratulations cards, baby’s first booties etc.
A soft toy
A firstĀ toy often becomes a lifelong friend, so choosing a soft, floppy eared bunny or cute teddy bear is always a strong gift idea. Did you know there are even some on the market that play soothing sounds via bluetooth!
Photo Session
It’s really lovely to capture a baby’s early days with the help of a professional photographer. You could give a gift voucher for a photography session at home or in a studio. Here are some newborn baby photo ideas.
Practical Presents
Practical presents such as money for essentials that need purchasing in those first few weeks can mean a lot. And have you ever seen a nappy cake? It’s basically a tower of nappies wrapped in ribbon to look like a tiered cake – practical and cute! If guests decide to club together and buy a combined main gift, it could be something really useful like a crib or high chair, or even a car seat or buggy so that’s something to consider, too.
