Going on your next adventure around the world is always exciting. You’ve picked the destination, you know when you’re going, and before long, you’re only weeks or days away from your flight out to said destination for a trip you’ll likely never forget.
However, in order for everything to go smoothly from start to finish, being prepared is certainly important. It can help to avoid most of the problems that can occur from not being efficient with your pre-travel prep.
With that being said, here are the top seven tips for stress-free travel, from packing smart to pre-booking your parking.

Pack smart and light where possible
First and foremost, look at your packing situation. Whether you’re heading out to a vacation spot alone, as a couple, or in a family, it’s good to pack smart and to pack light where possible.
Of course, it can be inevitable in some situations, like with kids, for example, where packing light isn’t possible. However, it’s still going to be important to be attentive to what you’re packing and to make sure that everyone has everything they need and not really much extra.
The less you pack, the fewer potential problems you’ll have when it comes to checking in your luggage and having to pay extra fees. You’ve also got some wiggle room in case you want to bring anything back with you.
Pre-book airport car park spaces
It’s always a good idea to think about pre-booking airport car parking spaces. This is important because there are a lot of people who will likely be booking their spots in advance, and as you get closer to the big day of travel, that availability might become more scarce, especially within direct access of the airport.
With that being said, it’s a good idea to compare airport car parks in order to find the best deal for your party. There might be group bookings if you have a larger group of people traveling, which can be helpful when you’re looking to save money.
Think about when you’ll need to pre-book the airport car parking space and make sure it’s done in time for travel.
Be security-ready and don’t panic
Security is often a daunting part of going through the airport and getting to the gate. However, it doesn’t need to be scary or panic-inducing, so long as you’re not carrying anything you shouldn’t.
With that being said, get yourself security-ready so that you minimize the hassle of being searched. Take off everything that’s made of metal and highlight to the officers you are being checked by, of anything metal that might be internally within your body.
Check all bags that you’re carrying with you and coats for anything that shouldn’t be in there for a flight, and dispose of it before stepping in line.
Finally, don’t panic. There’s nothing to be afraid of, so just listen carefully and breath.
Have emergency supplies
Emergency supplies are helpful to have, especially if you might be traveling to a country where you’re not used to the culture or cuisine that’s being offered.
With emergency supplies, it also factors in situations where your child might bump their knee or need medicine if they get a cold or bug while on vacation.
These emergency supplies are good to pack in a first aid kit so that they’re all together and available when needed. You’ll also want to perhaps pack a few snacks in your luggage so that you’ve got some home comforts, just in case there’s a lot of food that you or the rest of your party aren’t enjoying.
Keep the kids entertained with snacks and toys
Keeping your kids entertained with snacks and toys is the best way to get a much-deserved rest while on the flight. The younger the kids are, the more challenging it can be, which is why you want to try and keep your kids entertained in any way possible, whether that’s through food and drink or entertainment.
While a lot of people will be considerate and sympathize with parents who have little ones on a flight, others might not appreciate the constant screaming or upset. If you’re able to do as much as you possibly can to keep your child occupied and happy, the better it’ll be for you and your sanity while flying to your vacation destination.
Keep your documents and digital devices safe
Documents are good to keep altogether in one document holder, preferably. The same goes for your digital devices and making sure they’re safe or to hand should you need them quickly.
It’s a good idea to make sure you have any documents needed for travel up until you board the plane. That’s likely to be the point at which nothing will be required until you get off the plane on the other side.
Copies of your documents are worth having, even if you’re planning to use your smartphone. Technology isn’t always reliable, and so having a physical ticket or a printout of your information can be helpful, just in case something happens to your phone.
Every member of your party who is of responsible age should also ideally have copies of the documents, just in case they get separated from the group for any reason.
Stay flexible and adapt to any unexpected changes
Finally, when it comes to travel and making it stress-free, the more flexible and adaptable you can be, the better.
Whether it’s a delay to your flight or a last-minute cancellation, it’s good to be mindful that these things happen, and getting stressed about it isn’t going to make you feel any better. Instead, it’s good to find the positives in this situation, adapt, and change your plans where necessary to progress.
Stress-free travel is certainly something that you can achieve with the right attitude and pre-planning. With that said, use these tips for your next vacation trip and remember, by being prepared and adaptable to unexpected changes, you’ll likely have a smoother ride as a result.
