Kitchen Makeover Trends For 2020

If you are thinking of spending some of your free time renovating your home, you may not know where to start. If you are keen to add value and create a new hub of the home, there’s no better room to give a makeover than the kitchen. Kitchens are now seen as the heartbeat of a dwelling. It is here where you can watch the kids do homework as you cook up a gastronomic feast, the place where you can chat with pals over coffee, and where you can have romantic candlelit dinners with your partner. Follow this simple guide and you can discover the latest kitchen makeover trends for 2020.

Units

The units of your kitchen will dictate the look of your room. A country style kitchen will look perfect in a cottage or a home with rustic period features. You could opt for some off-white shaker style units with wooden work surfaces and rustic wooden handles. With any wooden worktop, you need to protect it with linseed oil. This will protect it from spillages, stains, and cuts from knives. You can enjoy a whole host of different grains from oak to walnut to bring some character and charm to your cooking area. Alternatively, you could choose to go ultra-modern and opt for some high gloss units. To be bold, you good go for gray or red doors and cabinetry. These styles of kitchens look amazing in newer properties that ooze minimalist vibes.

If you are eager to get this style but you don’t want to for out for a granite worktop or brand new units, consider swapping your doors if your frames are still structurally sound. You need to head to a showroom that sells doors separately to make your kitchen makeover more financially prudent.

Appliances

Going for integral appliances will make your kitchen look sleeker and less fussy. If you can’t see your dishwasher because it has a door that matches the rest of your kitchen, your living space will also appear bigger. If you already have a dishwasher but it has seen better days, consider calling in a domestic appliance repairs service to see if they can get it working again rather than choosing a brand new expensive one. The same goes for your refrigerator, your oven, and your hob. Choose matching appliances if you are eager for continuity and choose the most energy efficient appliances that you can afford.

Flooring

If you are eager to add a bit of class to your kitchen, consider ripping up your old lino for a brand new one. The best quality lino can come in all different styles, from tile print to wooden floorboard effect. This is a great cheaper option. Alternatively, you could opt for Victorian tiles from a reclamation yard, especially if you live in a stunning period property. If you are keen to ooze a more modern look, laminate flooring with downlights under the units can look futuristic and fun.

Follow this guide and enjoy implementing some of the latest interior trends of 2020 into your kitchen.
