The Warmest Types Of Flooring For Winter

Have you been thinking about changing your flooring now that the winter months are here? Waking up in the morning and stepping foot onto a cold tile isn’t the most pleasant experience in the world, we know. It’s for that reason that you should look into doing something different in your home this winter. In this article, we’re going to be looking at some of the options you’ve got when it comes to flooring for your home, so keep reading if you would like to find out more.

If you’ve already got carpet, then it might be time to recarpet. There are many different types of carpet as you well know and for the colder months, you might want to go for something that is going to keep your feet warm. Recarpeting might be something that you hadn’t previously thought of, but it’s not so expensive that the benefits can’t justify the cost. It is well worth the money that you are going to end up paying.

Make sure that you choose a carpet that is warm, but also looks good with your home. There are thinner and thicker carpets for you to choose from, so make the wise choice. Obviously, it is going to also depend on what you like the feel of, so we highly recommend that you get a sample of the different options before you make a choice. Keep in mind here that wool is the warmest choice, but it will also cost you the most.

What Underlay Should You Use?

The underlay that you use for your flooring will impact the warmth of it. As such, you’ve got to carefully consider which underlay you are going to use. If you’re not well versed in flooring, it’s probably a good idea to speak to a professional and see what they recommend. If you’re going to have carpet, then your underlay needs to be thick and soft in order to provide the most amount of comfort and warmth. Not only does your underlay impact how warm the floor is, but also how comfortable it is to walk on. As you can see then, it’s an important consideration if you’re thinking about recarpeting.

What If You Don’t Want Carpet?

Not everyone wants carpet for their home though, even in the winter months, and that is okay. Whether you just don’t like the way that it feels on your feet, or you don’t like the way that it looks, it doesn’t matter because there are other options that you can choose from. You can have vinyl or tile flooring in your home, but you might want to introduce underfloor heating at the same time. When winter hits, the floor of your home is going to get cold if it isn’t carpet and this is unavoidable. Even carpet gets cold sometimes but we don’t feel it as much because of the protection it has.

If you are going to choose tile or vinyl, you’re going to need something to make sure it’s not too cold to walk on. This is where underfloor heating comes in. It will make the floor more comfortable to walk on, providing you with a better start to your day then feeling your feet meet something freezing. Trust us when we say that this is enough to ruin your day right from the start, so just take that extra precaution. You are also protecting yourself from getting sick in any way because the warmer your home and everything in it, the less likely you are to contract a cold. Remember, it’s called a cold for a reason, you can’t catch a warm!

Hire The Right Person

When it comes to installing the floor, you need to make sure that you choose the right flooring contractor. You don’t want someone who isn’t going to provide you with the best finish possible because that’s just a waste of money. You need someone who is going to install your floor and finish with the highest possible standard, so make sure you take your time when choosing a contractor for this.

We hope that you have found this article helpful, and now understand a little more about the warmest types of flooring for winter. Don’t let your feet get cold inside your warm home this year!
